Arrangement and conducting of a humanist wedding ceremony

Each ceremony is a unique story about your love, values, and future plans. The goal of celebrants is to create a personalised ceremony that reflects your couple's story, outlook on love, relationships, and marriage. It is a creative process, with you and your story as the main inspiration.

A moment hugging each other at the wedding

ceremony, a berry of truth, personality, and warm emotions.

A humanist ceremony is an opportunity to have a personal and meaningful, secular ceremony, created specifically for you. There is nothing mandatory about it. The love story, vows, promises, rituals, readings, or guest participation – all of it depends on your wishes. Romantic, witty, sensitive, sarcastic, cosy, philosophical? What kind of ceremony will you choose?

Do you officially register marriages?

Our marriages are symbolic, so to officially legalise the marriage, you must apply to the civil registry office.

If you wish to combine the ceremony with the matriculation, you will need to submit applications for an off-site ceremony. Here you can listen to whether it is worth combining with the matriculation and what a ceremony combined with the matriculation looks like. You do not need to inform the matriculation about us additionally; our celebrant will contact the matriculation staff a week before the ceremony.

We most commonly recommend carrying out the metrical part at the start of the ceremony. This helps to avoid a multitude of misunderstandings, as the metrical officials have a limited time for one ceremony and cannot wait any longer. They need to be met, and the documents of the bride and groom, as well as the witnesses, need to be shown.
How does it all work?
Metrication arrives at the ceremony venue. She is greeted by our master of ceremonies.
For metrical purposes, the documents of the young person and witnesses are shown (often the metrical office wants to see the witnesses who submitted the documents).
The ceremony is opened by our master of ceremonies, who makes an introduction and presents the metrication.
The marriage is being registered in the name of the Republic of Lithuania. (Document signing only, with all personal elements – vows, ring exchange – at the end of the ceremony with our celebrant.)
However, we all know that marriage is more than just signatures. This is where the personal part begins (telling your story, rituals, vows, and the exchange of rings)
Based on our experience, it's best to insert the metrics section after a brief introduction by the master of ceremonies, but of course, you choose.
If you would like to have the civil registry part at the end of the ceremony, an additional person/coordinator would be needed to meet the civil registry employee, show them your and your witnesses' documents, and remind them of the proceedings. In this case, we could start the ceremony 15-20 minutes earlier.

Yes, that's possible. Most of our couples choose to separate the official marriage registration from the humanist wedding ceremony. This allows the humanist wedding ceremony to be held on the desired day and at the desired time, as registry office staff only work on specific days and at set times. Separating the ceremonies like this offers more flexibility if the ceremony time unexpectedly has to be postponed (due to guests arriving late from afar, or waiting for a rain cloud to pass). People also choose to have the official part and the humanist ceremony separately because they want to avoid stress and have the most personal ceremony possible.

Nothing is compulsory in a humanist ceremony. Therefore, there is no word for “must”. Perhaps in your ceremony, witnesses will not be two people, as is compulsory in the registry office, but all the guests at the ceremony.

We are flexible and conduct ceremonies on any day of the week, at a time of your choosing.

The Ceremonial Master is selected based on your completed Ceremonial Master selection questionnaire. We take into account the ceremony location, languages, your hobbies, and expectations for the Ceremonial Master's qualities. We have fifty Ceremonial Masters on our team, of various ages and professions. These include actors, writers, educators, and people working in communications and human rights. It is important to us that your ceremony is led by the person who is best suited for you, so if you feel during the meeting that you haven't connected with the Ceremonial Master, we will replace them.

The travel cost is calculated from Vilnius, Kauno or Klaipėda, taking into account the round-trip mileage and the average fuel price for that month. A fixed arrival fee of 10 euros applies in the cities of Vilnius, Kauno, and Klaipėda.

Yes, a person close to you can conduct the ceremonies we create. Couples who want a ceremony surrounded only by their closest loved ones choose this option. The ceremony creation process remains the same, but the ceremony is then conducted by your loved one, not our celebrant.

All sorts of couples have chosen humanist ceremonies, so how your ceremony looks depends on your personalities, love story, values, and hobbies. Perhaps you'll walk to the ceremony venue to an AC/DC track, or perhaps you'll arrive by bicycle. Will your pet or children bring the rings, or perhaps you won't exchange rings at all, as you'll have them tattooed? This ceremony is suitable for everyone, whether you are romantic, philosophical, witty, or even sarcastic. There is nothing mandatory in a humanist ceremony. Therefore, there's no word “should”. Perhaps the witnesses at your ceremony will not be two people, as required by the registry office, but all the guests at the ceremony.

There is nothing compulsory in the ceremony, so vows are not essential either. If you are unsure whether you want to say vows, consult with your celebrant. They will not only advise you but also help you choose the type of vow that is most suitable for you. After all, we are all different.

Yes, it is possible to not tell your love story at a humanist ceremony. However, it is important for us to understand why you do not wish to share your love story and to respond to your needs.
